Debut CD “Selena Rose” introduces a Guitar instrumental Cool/Smooth Jazz genre with sound and styling from funk, fusion, acoustical, and rock. Gary was born in Manhattan N.Y.C. He is a graduated from the Guitar Institute of Technology 1981. He had always been passionate about music and his greatest dream in life was to perform and record as a solo guitarist. But after many auditions in California, Gary was forced to find other means to financially support his family; nevertheless, music ran throughout his veins all day long no matter what he was doing. Music for him was his inspiration to keep on working on the daily challenges people have to face during their life time. In addition, an accident Gary suffered on his left fret board hand, exploded into five pieces. This life altering event made him face one and the scariest day of his life. When the Doctors told him after their diagnosis he could never again play the guitar. Gary’s heart was broken, but he turned all the emotional pain into desire to keep on being a solo Guitarist more so than ever. Despite the slim chance given to him by the doctors, Gary had to try to convince the doctors to at least give it a try to save his finger, and against the doctor’s recommendation and the complexity of this procedure they finally agreed to carry out the operation. The therapy took several years and still to this day he needs to have further surgery. Nevertheless, this incident did not impede Gary’s dream of being a solo guitarist. Then the real miracle happened, Gary had invested all of his life and time into his family. They supported him like an Olympic athlete for another 4 years on this venture. Making the situation even more difficult Gary had absolute no experience in writing songs, recording, mixing, and mastering music. Gary still embarked on this project as an Independent recording artist without anyone bankrolling him. His families support was the driving factor on the “Selena Rose” project. Therefore, quitting and/or failure were not an option for him. “Persistence and determination are Omnipotent”. In conclusion this is just the beginning for an artist who never played anyone else’s music. His melodies and solo lines are not like any particular style or artist making his sound unique. Look forward to the next album when Gary asks Myspace.com and Amazon.com friend to help him name the next songs and album which he is ready to release shortly and their names will be included in the credits of the next release album. This interview was done by Tatiana A. Tapia Creative Coordinator of the Selena Rose Album. As I was Interviewing Gary what came to my mind was how the love of a family and the strength of the human spirit can overcome virtually anything. Gary used a Fender Strait, Duncan Seymour pickups, D’addario strings, and the Line 6 amplifier. If you want further info you can contact him at ayala_gary@yahoo.com .
